Turda History Museum
The Turda History Museum is located on B. P. Hașdeu Street, in the center of Turda, Cluj County. The institution was founded in 1943 and occupies the former Princely House, a building once used for the salt customs and as a temporary residence of the princes of Transylvania. The facades and rooms preserve Gothic and Renaissance elements, and the collections trace the history of human settlement in the Turda area, from prehistory to the modern era.
Finds from Potaissa hold an important place: stone inscriptions, sculptures, capitals and fragments of columns, alongside ceramics and objects of everyday life. The collections also include tools, weapons and ornaments from the Bronze Age. Among the museum's best-known works is the 1898 painting by Aladár Körösfői-Kriesch, which depicts the reformer Francisc Dávid at the proclamation of religious freedom at the Diet of Turda in 1568. A visit covers both the historic building and the archaeological collections.
