Ulmet Trovants
Ulmet, Buzău
The Ulmet trovants are found on the hills near the village of Ulmet, Bozioru commune, Buzău County. The rounded rocks, also called Babele de la Ulmet, have the shapes of spheres, discs, columns and overlapping blocks. Some stand alone, while others are grouped on the same stone base.
They are formations of cemented sand and sandstone, shaped by rain, wind and other natural processes. The layers and curved surfaces can be seen up close along the path that runs through the area. The last stretch is on foot, along a road and then up steps through the woods. The trovants belong to the Ținutul Buzăului UNESCO Geopark.
