The Uspenia (Dormition of the Mother of God) Church in Botoșani was founded in 1552 by Elena Rareș, the wife of Petru Rareș. The poet Mihai Eminescu was baptized here.
It was restored in 1724 by ruler Mihai Racoviță and again in 1912. There is a statue of Eminescu in the churchyard. It is a historical monument.
