Vâlcea Village Museum

Bujoreni · Vâlcea

The Vâlcean Village Museum is located in Bujoreni commune, near Râmnicu Vâlcea, and is organized as an open-air rural settlement. The households were brought from different parts of the county, so the visitor can trace the connection between the home and the family's occupations. Villages of winegrowers, fruit growers and animal breeders are represented.

Between the houses with a porch or gazebo there are grain stores, hay barns, sheds and installations used for household work. The museum also includes buildings for the life of the community: a rural school from the time of Spiru Haret, an inn from the Mălaia area and a wooden church. The walkway route passes from furnished interiors to courtyards and outbuildings. The differences between the houses show how the relief and the occupations influenced the traditional buildings of Vâlcea.
