Văratec Monastery
Văratec Monastery is in the village of Văratec, Agapia commune, Neamț County. The monastery was founded in 1785 by Mother Olimpiada and the spiritual father Iosif. A monastic village grew up around the enclosure, with traditional houses, gardens and narrow streets, where the nuns live.
The Church of the Dormition of the Mother of God stands at the center of the courtyard, surrounded by administrative buildings and the monastery museum. The entrance tower, the other churches and the cells reflect the stages in which the complex developed. The museum collection includes icons, embroidery and liturgical objects, linked to the crafts and daily life of the monastic community.
