Vasile Alecsandri Memorial House
Mircești, Iași
The “Vasile Alecsandri” Memorial House is in Mircești commune, Iași County. The building was erected in 1861–1867 and was the poet's home for the rest of his life. Here he wrote “Pasteluri” (Pastels), plays and other works of his mature years.
The museum's five rooms hold furniture, books, photographs and documents. The desk, piano and travel items illustrate the writer's work and his diplomatic activity. In the park near the house is the family mausoleum, designed by the architect Nicolae Ghica-Budești and inaugurated in 1928.
