Vasile Blendea Museum

Târgoviște, Dâmbovița

The Vasile Blendea Museum in Târgoviște presents the artist's sculptures, paintings and drawings in an eighteenth-century house with older cellars. The collection comes from a donation by the family of Maria and Constantin Blendea and includes, besides artworks, furniture, ceramics, textiles, tools and personal items. The rooms show different aspects of the work of an artist known mainly for his sculpture and public monuments.

Themes in the exhibition include war, ordinary people, portraiture and the landscapes of Târgoviște. Sketches and models for monuments show the stages between an idea and a finished work in a public space. Paintings and drawings preserve, in turn, images of the city and everyday life. The house on Grigore Alexandrescu Street is itself a historic building, with rooms on different levels.
