Vasile Pogor Museum – Junimea House
On Vasile Pogor street in Iași, the house where the members of the Junimea society used to meet hosts the Vasile Pogor Museum – Casa Junimii. The building belonged to one of the founders of the literary group, and its salons hosted writers such as Mihai Eminescu, Ion Creangă and Ioan Slavici. The history of the place is also linked to the magazine Convorbiri literare, published in 1867.
After restoration, the museum was reopened in 2022 with an exhibition dedicated to Junimea. The exhibition connects the people, meetings and ideas that changed Romanian literature in the second half of the nineteenth century. The architecture of the house, the interior staircase and the salons complete the story of the writers. The property later passed to Princess Maria Moruzzi, then to her son, the historian Gheorghe I. Brătianu.
