Vergu-Mănăilă Ethnographic Museum
The Vergu-Mănăilă Museum of Ethnography occupies one of the oldest preserved houses in Buzău, on Războieni street. The house is related to the Mănăilă and Vergu families and dates from the end of the seventeenth century and the beginning of the next. The open porch, the upstairs rooms and the vaulted spaces of the lower level preserve the structure of an old noble house.
The exhibition presents the interior of a traditional house in the Buzău area, from the end of the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth century. The kitchen, the pantry, the living room, the workroom and the main guest room are reconstructed. Furniture, fabrics, household tools and folk wear come from the museum's ethnographic collection. The building underwent restorations in 1971–1974 and subsequently in 2017.
