Victor Anestin Astronomical Observatory
The "Victor Anestin" Astronomical Observatory occupies a former water tower built in Bacău in 1910-1911. The building received the astronomical function in 1978, after the establishment of the observatory in 1976. The permanent exhibition takes place in six rooms and follows the Solar System, space exploration, stars and galaxies. The models and panels explain the planets, the missions of space probes and the research of Mars with the help of robots.
On the third floor is the "Matei Alexescu" Planetarium, equipped with a digital projection system on the dome. Here, the sky and the movements of the celestial bodies are presented in a space designed for astronomical demonstrations. The exhibition continues from the evolution of stars to exoplanets and the history of the Universe. The headquarters on Ion Ghelu Destelnica street thus combines an old technical building of the city with a museum dedicated to astronomy.
