Warthog

Phacochoerus africanus

Two pairs of upward-curving tusks stick out of its mouth, and its large head and the mane running down its back make it easy to recognise. The warthog is a wild pig of the savannas, grasslands and open woodlands of sub-Saharan Africa. When in danger it runs at up to 48 km/h with its tail held up, and it backs into its burrow so that its tusks face the entrance.
