Water Tower in Arad
The Arad Water Tower stands on Piotr Ilici Tchaikovsky Street, near the former firemen's barracks. The brick construction is approximately 38 meters high and was designed in the model of a medieval fortress tower. In the upper part there was a large basin, used to supply the city with drinking water. The balconies, exposed masonry and wrought iron elements give it an easily recognizable appearance.
The tower retained its role in the water supply network until 1956. Later, the spaces were given a cultural function, with an exhibition about water and temporary art exhibitions. The visitor can observe both the industrial architecture of the building and the way in which an urban reservoir was transformed into a gallery. Access to the exhibitions and interior levels is confirmed with the administrator prior to the visit.
