Way of the Heroes Monumental Ensemble

The Calea Eroilor monumental complex crosses the center of Târgu Jiu, in Gorj county. Constantin Brâncuși built it in 1937-1938 to commemorate those who defended the city in the First World War. The Table of Silence, the Alley of Chairs, the Gate of the Kiss and the Endless Column form a route between two parks.

Next to Jiu is the stone table surrounded by chairs, and the alley continues to the Gate of the Kiss. Further, the axis of the ensemble passes by the Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul and reaches the metal column. The works can be discovered on foot, in the public space. The ensemble is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List from 2024.
