Weavers' Bastion
The Weavers' Bastion is located at the foot of Tâmpa, in the municipality of Brașov, on the southern side of the old citadel. It was built and maintained by the linen weavers' guild in stages during the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. The massive walls enclose an inner courtyard surrounded by wooden galleries.
On the defensive levels you can see loopholes and spots from which the defenders watched the approach of enemies. Two watchtowers complete the fortification. The bastion survived the fire of 1689, which destroyed a large part of Brașov. Today it belongs to the County Museum of History, and its courtyard is also used for cultural events.
