Wind Cave

Șuncuiuș, Bihor

The Wind Cave opens in the Frânturii clearing, near Șuncuiuș, in Bihor county. Discovered in 1957, it is known for the length and ramifications of its galleries. The name comes from the strong current of air that forms at the entrance, together with the temperature differences between outside and underground.

Inside there are wide galleries, narrow passages, stalactites and stalagmites, including the formation called Torpila. The cave is part of the caving tourism network of Pădurea Craiului. Visiting is organized through local operators and is done only with accredited guides and protective equipment, on permitted routes.
