The Călărași Zoo is in Dumbrava Park, in Călărași, Călărași County. It was opened in 1980, starting with a collection of exotic mammals and birds. Over time, the collection expanded through breeding and exchanges with other zoos.
The zoo houses big cats such as lions and tigers, as well as deer, llamas, ponies and primates. The bird collection includes pelicans, swans, parrots, peacocks and pheasants. Fish and reptiles round out the animals on display.
