Zoo in Târgu Mureș

Târgu Mureș Zoo is located on the Cornești Plateau, in the eastern part of the city, in Mureș County. It opened in 1964 in an oak and beech forest. The original animal collection was gradually expanded, along with the enclosures and animal houses.

Paths connect open-air enclosures and buildings housing animals from different geographical regions. Both European and exotic species are represented. The forest has been kept between the enclosures, and the zoo's position on the plateau keeps it apart from the city's built-up streets.
