Zosin Monastery
Zosin Monastery is in Bălușeni commune, Botoșani County, on the edge of a wooded area. The old church, dedicated to the Dormition of the Mother of God, was built in 1779 by Tudorachi Bașotă. It is a small building with a shingle roof, an octagonal tower and a massive oak door.
A distinctive feature of the old church is that its walls are made of interwoven twigs covered with clay. The new monastic complex grew up nearby, with a large church consecrated in 2015, a bell tower and a summer altar. The dedicatory inscription of the old church, carved in wood in Cyrillic letters, records the name of the founder and the year of construction.
